The Backstory

Hello and welcome. My name is Brian and I am a Director of Photography in Vancouver, Canada. I have been in the production industry for over 30 years and have worked as a DOP on multiple broadcast television projects.

My experience began with broadcast TV cameras which is essentially the heart of  our current digital systems of today.  I keep up to date with emerging camera technology, workflows and production equipment. I currently have a Canon Cinema EOS camera and am very familiar with their full product line.

My first production full time job was at William F. Whites in rentals. I instantly became fascinated with lighting and wanted to learn as much as I could. With a background in photography and pursuing a camera career I quickly set my sights on doing it all. Having consistently worked as a DOP, I have strong lighting skills. My goal is to work quickly to make things look great. I have a great eye for composition and I shoot with the edit in mind. I work in harmony with directors. I am very relaxed with a good sense of humour.

I am always looking for new and exciting opportunities to work on, so please don't hesitate to reach me anytime.

I primarily work as a shooting DOP however I am also open to opportunities to work as an  operator. I enjoy being a part of the creative process and always strive to be an asset to the overall production no matter what the role. With the skills that I have and respectfully knowing the network of the DOP’s in Vancouver, I am an excellent choice as additional or B cam operator.

I look forward to hearing from you and collaborating on your projects together
